Missouri ag creates vaccine to protect cattle

A University of Missouri researcher has developed a new vaccine to protect cattle from a tick-borne disease that is common in Missouri. Bovine anaplasmosis infects the red blood cells of cattle and causes millions of dollars in economic losses nationwide due to production declines. Researcher Roman Ganta says that his vaccine works, “We found out that the animals remained, all the cattle that we tested, remained healthy, whether the infection is coming from a mechanical route, which is the standard way many cattle get it in a cattle ranch or by tick transmission.” Ganta Says.
