Wind chills of 15 below are possible by Thursday

(Radio Iowa) – Forecasters say it’ll be a very windy Wednesday in Iowa as a cold front blows in.

Lows tonight are predicted in the single digits while highs tomorrow may only be in the teens and 20s statewide. Wind chills on Thursday could be well below zero. National Weather Service meteorologist Rod Donavon says a wind advisory covers 94 of Iowa’s 99 counties through midnight tonight, as gusts may exceed 50 miles an hour.

Iowans who have Christmas inflatables in their yards might want to double-check the bungee cords, and anyone driving a high-profile vehicle will need to use extra caution. Donavon says wind chills Thursday morning could hit 15 below zero, though highs by Sunday may be back in the low 50s.
