A St. Joseph man is accused of stealing the identity of a Minnesota man for years, using it to get work.

Federal prosecutors have charged 42-year-old Romeo Perez-Bravo with aggravated identity theft and misuse of a Social Security number.

The Social Security Administration began its investigation after receiving a tip from the St. Joseph Police Department. Social Security claims Perez-Bravo has been living in St. Joseph and using the identity to work for local area employers since 2009. The victim reported the identity theft when he began to receive unpaid income tax bills from the IRS.
