A statue installed in 1940 to honor the riders of the Pony Express will undergo renovation.

Workers have removed the statue from its base at 10th and Frederick Avenue will be repaired and cleaned. A protective coating will be added to preserve the statue. Work is expected to be completed by summer in time for the height of the tourism season.

The project is being undertaken by the City of St. Joseph Parks Department.
